Ocean Dream in the Maldives

If you like warm water, amazing beaches and thousand of fishes all around visit the wonderful Maldives Atolls.

The Maldives lies in two chain of  26 atolls in the Indian Ocean, there are 1,190 coral Islands (more than 200 inhibited). The climate is a tropical-monsoon with warm temperature all year around and there are two different season, the dry season from December to April the monsoon blows from north-est, the wet season from may to November the wind comes from south-west.


The Maldives have different typology of dives: Kandu, Thila and Lagoon

  • The Kandu or Pass is a  channel  between the atoll and the Indian Ocean the principal characteristic is the strong current produced from the tides changes and the water come in or out from the atoll. After the dive guide checked the current direction you will do a very exciting drift dive, the current can be very strong, but this is the right place to find big pelagic like sharks.

  • The Thila is an underwater Island, shallow, where is possible to dive all around or just one side. The marine life is very rich with many hard and soft corals, the Thila is the place where you can encounter the cleaning station for the manta rays. The current can be mild to strong.

  • The dives in the lagoon are very easy and not deep with sandy bottom, they are very good for beginners, diving courses and check dive.

  • Due to very strong current we suggest to always take with you a  surface marker buoy(SMB).

KANDU

  • Gangehi Kandu is One of the best dive site in the Ari Atoll, the drift dive begins when the current come into the channel and you can spot grey reef sharks, white tip sharks, tunas, manta, eagle ray and trevally. The coral formation are colourful and you can see moray eels, mantis shrimp and nudibranch.

  • The Kuredu Express, Lhaviyani Atoll, is very famous around the world for the incredible strong current runs through the pass. Depending the current you can have various dives, the channel is sandy and there are many terraces at different deep where you can stop and look the blue to find big fish to hunt.

  • Fottheyo Kandu, Vaavu Atoll, is one of the best diving spot in the Maldives and is located in the est side of Felidhu Atoll, there are a thila that splits the channel in two passes. Here you can see hammerhead sharks, especially early in the morning, grey reef sharks, white tip sharks, turtles and barracudas.

THILA

  • Broken Rock is thila in the South Ari Atoll longue about 100 meters and takes the name from the canyon that split it in two sections. The divers can swim through the canyon with large gorgonia fans and soft corals. The marine life includes Napoleon wrasse, moray eels, trigger fish, scorpionfish and turtles.

  • Maaya Thila, Ari Atoll, is shallow deep from 6 to 30 meters and is very famous for the sighting of grey reef sharks, white tip sharks, stone fish, octopus, angel fish and butterfly fish. This dive site is suitable for  both day and night dives, the current can be very strong and it's recommended only for advanced divers.

  • Kudarah Thila, South Ari Atoll, is declared Protected Area Marina and it has four pinnacles from 14 to 30 meters  that you can see in one dive if the current is not too strong. There are caves where live groupers, nudibranch, crabs, lobster, big moray eels and in the blue if you are like you can see grey reef sharks.
